You can’t upload your own photo for an Argentina passport — not with IDPhotoBy, and not with any self-service tool. Argentina’s passport and its national ID card (DNI) are issued exclusively by RENAPER (Registro Nacional de las Personas), under the Secretaría de Interior — RENAPER’s own passport FAQ states this directly. Applying means booking an in-person appointment (“turno”) at a RENAPER Centro de Documentación or Registro Civil office, where your photo is captured on site as part of that visit, not supplied by you beforehand. Because no application channel accepts a self-made, uploaded or software-cropped photo, IDPhotoBy does not prepare photos for an Argentina passport.

RENAPER is direct about who issues these documents. Its own passport FAQ states:
« Tanto el Pasaporte como el DNI son documentos emitidos exclusivamente por el Registro Nacional de las Personas, que depende de la Secretaría de Interior de la Nación. »
“Both the Passport and the DNI are documents issued exclusively by the National Registry of Persons, which reports to the Secretariat of the Interior.”
RENAPER’s own passport service page and its official “Requisitos Pasaporte” PDF — which covers all four passport procedures (first passport for adults, first passport for minors, replacement passport for adults, replacement passport for minors) — list everything an applicant needs to bring. For an adult, that list is short:
« DNI tarjeta vigente. »
“Valid DNI card.”
A previous passport, where one exists, is optional, not required:
« Pasaporte anterior: es recomendable pero no obligatorio. »
“Previous passport: recommended but not mandatory.”
Minors need additional paperwork from a parent or legal representative. In neither list — nor anywhere across RENAPER’s own passport FAQ — does a photograph appear as something the applicant brings or uploads.
Instead, your photo is captured live, at the office, on RENAPER’s own equipment. RENAPER’s regulation governing the photography for its identity documents describes the capture itself:
« para la toma de fotografías efectuada por medios de captura digitales en todas las oficinas y puestos de toma informatizada del país »
“for photographs taken by digital capture equipment in every office and computerised capture station in the country.”
That regulation is written for the DNI specifically — we haven’t found a source that names the passport in the same clause — but the DNI and the passport are issued by the same authority and processed during the same office visit, so this is the same live-capture setup, not a separate applicant-facing photo process. Even Argentina’s consular channel abroad works the same way: an Argentine mission page confirms the underlying system relies on in-person biometric data capture, not an applicant-submitted photo file.
Because you never submit your own photo file at any point, RENAPER hasn’t published an applicant-facing passport photo size or background specification either. Online tools sometimes advertise a specific “Argentina passport photo” size — that figure isn’t a confirmed passport requirement (see the FAQ below).
To apply for an Argentina passport:
- Book a “turno” (appointment) at a RENAPER Centro de Documentación or Registro Civil office through RENAPER’s own passport service.
- Bring your valid DNI card. A previous passport is worth bringing if you have one, but it isn’t mandatory. If you’re applying for a minor, bring the additional parental or legal-representative paperwork RENAPER’s process asks for.
- Attend the appointment in person. Your photo is captured on site as part of the visit — there’s nothing to prepare or upload beforehand.
- Collect your passport once RENAPER notifies you it’s ready.
IDPhotoBy prepares document photos online only where the issuing authority accepts a self-prepared, uploaded photo. An Argentina passport isn’t one of those — RENAPER captures the photo itself, on site, at your appointment. There is nothing for IDPhotoBy to prepare for an Argentina passport.
