You can’t upload your own photo for a Bangladesh passport — not with IDPhotoBy, and not with any self-service tool. Bangladesh’s Department of Immigration & Passports (DIP) issues the e-Passport only through an online application followed by mandatory in-person biometric enrolment: the online application form does not accept or require a photo, and every applicant aged 6 or older must then visit a Passport Office in Bangladesh, or a Bangladeshi mission abroad, where staff capture the photo, fingerprints and iris scan on the spot. Because no application channel accepts a self-made, uploaded or software-cropped photo, IDPhotoBy does not prepare photos for a Bangladesh passport.

DIP is direct about this in its own e-Passport Instructions. The form-filling instructions state:
« ৩। ই-পাসপোর্ট ফরমে কোন ছবি সংযোজন এবং তা সত্যায়নের প্রয়োজন হবে না। »
“3. There is no need to attach any photo to the e-Passport form, nor does it need to be authenticated.”
After you submit that form, DIP’s own “5 Steps to your e-Passport” page confirms the next applicant-facing step is not a photo upload, but a personal visit:

The official documents-to-carry checklist for that visit — application summary, identity document, payment slip, previous passport (if applicable), and the printed application form — never lists a photograph either. Two independent Bangladesh missions abroad confirm the same picture: the Consulate General in Dubai states “Physical presence of the applicant is mandatory”, and the High Commission in London requires applicants to appear in person “to submit their fingerprint, iris scan and signature” as Step 3 of its own process. The London High Commission goes further, warning that “Light colour dresses (such ash white, sky, ash etc.) may cause photo capturing refusal engraved in system software” — confirming the photograph itself is captured live, by the enrolment system’s own equipment, not supplied by the applicant.
Because you never submit your own photo file at any point in this process, DIP hasn’t published an applicant-facing photo size or background specification for it either. You may see online tools advertise a specific size for a “Bangladesh passport photo” — those figures aren’t drawn from a DIP specification for this process, because no such specification for applicant-submitted photos exists.
One narrow exception does call for a pre-existing photo, but it isn’t the general process this page covers: children under 6 are exempt from in-person biometric enrolment and instead bring a physical printed photo to the appointment. Official Bangladeshi sources don’t agree on that exception’s background colour, so we won’t repeat either figure here — if it applies to you, confirm the current requirement with your nearest Passport Office or Bangladeshi mission before applying.
To apply for a Bangladesh e-Passport:
- Check that e-Passport service covers you. DIP’s own process guide starts by confirming e-Passport availability before you begin.
- Fill in the online e-Passport application form. It doesn’t ask for a photo — none is attached or authenticated at this stage.
- Pay the applicable fee and keep the payment slip — you’ll need it, along with your application summary, identity document, previous passport (if applicable), and the printed application form, for your in-person visit.
- Visit a Passport Office in Bangladesh, or a Bangladeshi mission abroad, in person for biometric enrolment. Staff there capture your fingerprints, iris scan and photograph together, on site.
- Collect your passport once it’s ready.
If you’re applying on behalf of a child under 6, ask your Passport Office or mission about the photo you may need to bring for that specific exception — it isn’t part of the standard process above.
IDPhotoBy prepares document photos online only where the issuing authority accepts a self-prepared, uploaded photo. A Bangladesh passport isn’t one of those — DIP captures the photo itself, in person, during biometric enrolment. There is nothing for IDPhotoBy to prepare for a Bangladesh passport.
