There is no passport-style photo, no upload and no selfie anywhere in the process, so there is nothing for IDPhotoBy — or anyone — to prepare. If a website is charging you for a “Canada eTA photo,” you do not need what it is selling.

An eTA is an entry requirement for visa-exempt travellers that you apply for entirely online. The official application form asks for your passport details, an email address and payment — and nothing else. There is no photo step, no upload and no selfie.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) lists exactly what you need on its official “How to apply” page, under the heading:
“What you need to complete the form and pay for your eTA”
A photo appears nowhere on that checklist. The Government of Canada also states plainly that “this is the Government of Canada’s official website to apply for an eTA” and that “it only costs CAN$7” — a single government fee, with no photo to buy. Any tool offering to “prepare your Canada eTA photo” is offering something the application never asks for.
According to IRCC, the Canada eTA application asks for just three things:
That is the whole list — no photograph is part of it. One grounded note: as of April 26, 2022, lawful permanent residents of the United States are exempt from the eTA requirement. Apply only on the official Government of Canada website; it is the single place that can issue your eTA, and the fee there is CAN$7.
