The Korean passport photo size is 35×45 mm, which is 3.5×4.5 cm — the size set by the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (passport.go.kr). Your head must be centred, and the head length, measured from the crown (the top of your head excluding hair) to the chin, must be 32–36 mm (3.2–3.6 cm). That honest approach matches the Korean rule itself. You do not need a studio or a photo booth. To take a Korean passport photo at home with a phone: stand about 60 cm (2 feet) in front of a plain white wall in soft, even daylight so there are no shadows, face the camera straight on in full front view with a neutral expression, mouth closed and both eyes open, and fill the frame with your head and the top of your shoulders. Wear everyday clothes in a colour that is not white, and take off any hat or tinted glasses. Then upload it here and IDPhotoBy crops it to the exact 35×45 mm size with your head at 32–36 mm.

The same works for a baby or child's Korean passport photo — lay an infant on a plain white sheet and photograph from directly above, eyes open if you can (Korea allows a little more leeway for a very young infant's expression). Take the photo within the last 6 months so it reflects your current appearance.

• A coloured or busy background. It must be a plain, even white with no shadows, border or objects behind you.
• Tinted glasses or glare. Avoid sunglasses, tinted, coloured or circle lenses and reflections on the lenses — better still, take your glasses off.
• A black-and-white photo. Korea requires natural full colour — do not submit a greyscale photo.
• Smiling or an open mouth. Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed and no teeth showing, both eyes open, looking at the camera.
• A hat or head covering that hides your face — the photo must be bareheaded.
• White clothing that blends in. Do not wear a white or very light top against the white background — choose a colour that contrasts.
• An AI-edited or heavily retouched photo. Korea does not accept these — upload a real, recent photo instead.
• The wrong size. The photo must be 35×45 mm (3.5×4.5 cm), not a US 2×2 inch photo — IDPhotoBy sizes it correctly.
