• No head covering, except for recognised traditional or religious communities (eyes, eyebrows, cheeks and chin must stay visible in that case).

Recommended, not mandatory: the photo should be taken no earlier than 6 months before submission. For documents issued by laser engraving — this passport, plus the ID card, service passport, foreign national's passport, driving licence and residence permit — a non-colour (black & white) photo is recommended for a closer visual match to the engraved document; other documents may be colour or non-colour.
