A Qatar visa photo is the personal photo you upload in your Hayya e-visa application: a recent photo that looks as close as possible to the one in your passport, saved as a .jpg or .jpeg file smaller than 2 MB. Qatar's Ministry of Interior says tourist visas are applied for on the Hayya platform, at hayya.qa or in the Hayya to Qatar app.
If you need a photo for a Qatar visa, start here: the Qatar visa document is already selected on this page.
In the Hayya application you upload a digital personal photo together with a scan of your passport. These are the Hayya photo requirements for the personal photo:
| Rule | What Hayya asks for |
|---|
| File format | Only image files: .jpg or .jpeg |
| File size | Smaller than 2 MB |
| Recency | A recent personal photo |
| Likeness | As close as possible to the photo in your passport |
| Standard | The standard requirements set by the immigration authorities, including dimensions, background, colour and facial expression |
| Face | One face only, with the head centred rather than turned |
| Eyes | Both eyes open, with no hair covering an eye |
The upload form checks every photo, and one of its messages reads: “Photo does not comply with the required standards. Please upload a photo that matches the specified requirements.”
Hayya's public pages and guides give no print size, pixel dimensions or background colour for this photo. For the file itself, Hayya sets a format and a size limit: .jpg or .jpeg, smaller than 2 MB. So for a passport size photo for a Qatar visa, follow those limits and the face checks above. The 38 × 48 mm portrait frame IDPhotoBy uses is our choice, not a Hayya requirement.
Hayya handles the Tourist Visa (A1), the GCC Resident Visa (A2), the Visa with ETA (A3), the Visa for Companion of GCC Citizen (A4) and the Visa-Free for US Citizens (F1).
Citizens of many countries can enter Qatar visa-free, the route formerly called visa on arrival, and GCC nationals do not need a visa. Check your nationality on Visit Qatar or Hayya first.
IDPhotoBy works with the photo you upload: it frames your head and shoulders with your face centred, checks the background and keeps the JPEG under 2 MB. It doesn't retouch your face, and it can't promise that your photo will be accepted: the Hayya upload form runs its own photo checks.
Hayya publishes its visa guides at hayya.qa, and requirements can change. Check the official application portal before submitting.
