Applying for a Vietnam e-visa? The application asks you to upload a Vietnam visa photo that is 4×6 cm (40×60 mm), a JPG/JPEG file under 2 MB, front-facing, on a white background. Upload a recent portrait and IDPhotoBy sizes and crops it to exactly that. It is free — no payment required.
Unlike a printed passport photo, the Vietnam e-visa is a single online channel: the 4×6 cm portrait is the file you upload to the e-visa application — there is no separate print-vs-digital split to worry about. IDPhotoBy prepares that one file for you.
The Vietnam e-visa photo rules come from the National Electronic Visa portal — the Immigration Department under Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security (evisa.gov.vn). Check your photo against this checklist before you upload:
- Size 4×6 cm (40×60 mm) — the officially stated e-visa photo size.
- JPG or JPEG file, under 2 MB — the exact format and file-size ceiling the e-visa form accepts. (Some tools still say 1024 Kb — the official form's limit is under 2 MB.)
- White background — a plain white background is required on the e-visa photo.
- Straight, front-facing view — face square to the camera.
- No glasses — take the photo without glasses.
- No hat, bare head — no head covering.
- Formal clothes — dress formally, and keep a neutral expression.
- Newly taken — use a recent photo.
- Clear photo, no lost corners — the e-visa form asks for a clear image with no cut-off corners, uploaded together with one passport data-page image.
The Vietnam visa photo size is 4×6 cm — that is 40×60 mm. The e-visa application takes it as a JPG/JPEG upload under 2 MB; the official portal does not publish a fixed pixel size for it. IDPhotoBy outputs a 945×1417 px file (40×60 mm at 600 dpi), which is a compliant JPEG comfortably under the 2 MB ceiling, and also gives you a printable sheet if you ever need a physical 4×6 cm copy.
- Upload a recent, well-lit portrait with the tool on this page — the Vietnam visa document is already selected.
- IDPhotoBy resizes and crops your photo to 4×6 cm (40×60 mm), sets the white background the e-visa application requires, and saves it as a JPG/JPEG under 2 MB.
- Preview the result — check the framing, the white background, and that your face is straight and clearly visible with no glasses or hat.
- Download the finished photo, free, and upload it to the Vietnam e-visa application.
The Vietnam visa photo maker is online and free, and doubles as a size checker and resizer for a photo you already have — no app to download.
IDPhotoBy sizes and crops the photo you upload to the 4×6 cm Vietnam e-visa standard and sets the plain white background the application requires. It does not retouch, beautify or otherwise edit your face — your features are left exactly as they are.
We also make no acceptance promise — no tool can promise a visa photo will be accepted. The file is prepared to the e-visa portal's published requirements, and the Immigration Department decides.
Requirements can change — check the official Vietnam National Electronic Visa portal (evisa.gov.vn) before you apply; it is the final authority.
