A Nigeria visa photo for the e-Visa is a digital photo that you upload in the online application on the e-Visa portal of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). It needs a white background and an image size of less than 1 MB, and the portal's photo tool crops every photo to a fixed square of 600 × 600 pixels, saved as a JPEG.
That is why IDPhotoBy delivers a square 600 × 600 px JPEG under 1 MB: it fits the portal's square cropper without re-cropping. The Nigeria e-Visa document is already selected on this page.
The Nigerian e-Visa photo requirements are set by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and shown at the photo upload step of its e-Visa portal, evisa.immigration.gov.ng, which the NIS website links to under "Apply for e-Visa".
| Rule | Nigeria e-Visa photo |
|---|
| File type | JPG, JPEG or PNG |
| File size | Less than 1 MB ("Image size should be less than 1MB.") |
| Background | White ("Must be white background.") |
| Face | The photo must contain your face ("Must contain face.") |
| Shape and pixels | The portal's photo tool crops every photo to a fixed square and saves it as a 600 × 600 px JPEG |
| What IDPhotoBy delivers | A square 600 × 600 px JPEG under 1 MB |
The NIS photo notes don't state a head size, how recent the photo must be, or rules on glasses or facial expression. The way IDPhotoBy frames your head in the square is our standard setting, not an NIS figure.
For the e-Visa, the Nigeria visa photo is square. The NIS notes give no pixel size; instead, the photo upload uses a cropper with a fixed square frame that can't be resized, and the cropped result is saved as a 600 × 600 px JPEG. A photo that is already a 600 × 600 px square, with your face framed in the middle, fits the cropper without re-cropping.
- Go to the NIS e-Visa portal, evisa.immigration.gov.ng, and sign in: the photo upload screen sits behind sign-in.
- At the photo step, upload your photo as a JPG, JPEG or PNG file of less than 1 MB. A bigger file gets the error message "Image size should not be bigger than 1 MB".
- The portal's photo tool crops your photo with the fixed square frame and saves the crop as a 600 × 600 px JPEG.
On the NIS page for the Tourism Visa (F5A), listed under Short Visit Visa (e-Visa), the requirements include a "Passport size photo", and one of the steps is uploading the visa requirements. For the e-Visa, that photo is the file you upload at the photo step.
Biometrics for the e-Visa are fingerprints, taken separately: in the mobile app, which needs a compatible smartphone with a fingerprint scanner, or at the port of entry. Fingerprint enrollment doesn't replace the photo you upload.
IDPhotoBy works with the photo you upload: it frames your face, crops the photo to a square 600 × 600 px JPEG under 1 MB and checks the background. It doesn't retouch or beautify your face, and it doesn't submit anything to the e-Visa portal. It can't promise that your photo or your visa will be accepted: the Nigeria Immigration Service decides on your application.
